Reiki and Cancer

The stress experienced when diagnosed with cancer can be overwhelming, and as the body is effectively at war with itself, not to mention the harshness of modern treatments, the need to maintain inner harmony is vitally important.  Reiki, a gentle therapeutic technique that originated in Japan, can assist during this often traumatic time by bringing balance to mind, body and spirit.

The subtle flow of Reiki energy can help to alleviate or reduce the side effects of ccanceronventional cancer treatment including pain, nausea and fatigue and as such, it allows the natural healing of the body to take place.   Producing a calming effect, Reiki helps the body to relax and the mind to let go of anxiety, which increases overall feelings of peace and general well-being.  Reiki therefore creates an opportunity for patients to restore inner harmony and a sense of connection with their inner selves that may seem to have been lost during the whirlwind of treatment.

Being non-manipulative, Reiki healing is administered through various hand placements either gently on or over specific areas of the patient’s fully clothed body while they are seated comfortably or lying down.  Each treatment session is designed to be soothing and supportive providing the patient space to rest and focus only on their own well being.
